Hi Nicole,
My son is experiencing the same thing right now. He is on day 16 of ivs and was pretty clear until two days ago when he just starting coughing up a ton more junk...dark green junk. I called his doctor wondering if the meds had stopped working, but she tends to think it is stuff being brought up from his peripheral airways and that it is a good thing. So, now I'm thrilled to see it coming up and out!!!

Oh, and we follow the same routine every day:
(albuterol, hts, airway clearance in the am)and
(albuterol, pulmozyme, hts, airway clearance in the pm) but I have been throwing in extra flutter or cpt throughout the day since he has had his picc line.

I do my HS before my vest, and then do my Pulmozyme and then my Tobi or Colistin. My doctor is fine with this (I think it gets all the crud out the way that you can before adding the antibiotic, so the Tobi gets in a little further/better). I would just call my doctor and ask . It has worked really well for me .

Oh, I should have elaborated on the 7% at night- I decided to try the 3% at night, after someone recommended (and after my ENT said that any HS over 3% is bad for your cillia in your nose) just trying it. I realized that I felt even better in the morning on the 3% than the 7%, and therefore deduced (haha) that it was probably too strong for me at the end of the day . But that's just me, of course .

Hee, Sevenstars- I like the "scrub and soak" analogy- soak all day in the Pulmozyme, scrub it out with the evening HS, soak all night in the Pulmozyme, scrub it out with the HS in the morning...that works! lol
