He choked on peanuts and now has a congested cough

So Caleb choked on peanuts on Thursday...he coughed it out and threw up. He now has a congested cough. I am wondering if the peanut thing caused inflammation and if that is why he is congested.
I am giving him albuterol, as he is wheezing too and ibuprofen in hopes it will decrease the inflammation.
I will call the clinic on Monday or sooner if it worsens. But just wondering if anyone has a thought as to whether the choking could have caused all this????

Blessings,
Missa

Has he eaten peanuts before and not choked? He may be allergic to them. If I eat something that I am allergic to, it makes me congested and I cough alot.

That was my first thought too Debbie...I just looked at his latest allergy test to make sure and according to that, he is not allergic to peanuts.

my first guess would be he inhaled a peanut - it's in his lung - he has pneumonia now. I don't have first hand experience - but this happened to a neighbor's kid years ago - don't remember what they did - if they just put him on antibiotics only or if they had to do a bronch and go get the peanut out too - I tend to think that the latter is what is more likely (after confirmation that there is in deed a peanut in the lung of course)
