Sounds like you handled it well and you will be doing the right thing by letting him read the book with you both. I think you guys are great parents! I remember when I first found out that CF was potentially fatal (read about it in an encyclopedia) in my pre-teen years. I was pretty sad about it for awhile. I felt alone and scared. So hopefully he'll be open about his feelings with you both afterwards and it will not be as difficult for him. Good luck! I'm sure it will all be fine!
