Healing Dreams

Hey everyone, I'm doing an assignment for school about dreams and different dream types. I have to recall or ask others about particular dreams that they have had and record them; as this is for drama and ultimately I will perform one of them (with a group). I'm particular interetsed in healing dreams; that is, the type of dream where our bodies tell us something positive in dreaming, and warn us before physical symptoms arrive and so forth. I hear its a lot more common in people with terminal or serious illnesses so I ultimately thought CF. I've never had a dream like this and I was wondering if anyone wanted to shed some light if they have ever experienced one. It would help me a lot with school and I'm also just genuinely interested.

Thanks heaps.

Hi Mel,

I never have "healing dreams". The only ones I remember are ones where I'm being hunted down like a dog. I always wake up with tears strimming down my cheeks and intense sweating. Usually a headache as well. Sorry, no help from me. Sure wish I had "healing dreams". LOL!

Im not sure i have had any healing dreams but the other night I dremt that a co worker told me that I was raspy and short of breathe when i read a book to my husband. Weird dream I know and I have no idea what it meant, I have good health, maybe Ive been freaking out too much about my pfts, thats why I dreamt that or maybe something is going on inside me that i have no clue about. I feel pretty clear in my lungs, i just freak out and worry when it gets closer to my dr. appointment which is on the 15th.

I don't know if this is what you mean but I will tell you about a dream I had in 2005 a few weeks before my partial lung collapse.

I had this dream in the beginning of July 2005. I was rushed to the hospital - the ER - and I was having difficulty breathing. Doctors were running around me going crazy, running tests and I think ultimately doing some type of surgery. In the dream I was me - but almost like I was watching the dream and not actually taking part in it. They were running tests and working on me and I kept hearing them say it's her left lung - her left lung is failing. We need to work on the left lung - it is failing - she needs O2. I shot up in bed kind of panting.

I told my mom I thought it was weird - but I just wrote it off cause I had felt okay considering. Within a few weeks of that dream I started feeling more fatigued when I would wake up - almost like I wasn't getting enough air. I started coughing harder and coughing up nastier stuff. Then about 3 weeks after that dream I went out and played softball. I got a hit and ran to first - only to be thrown out. I was short of breath but no more than usual. The next morning I woke up I could barely talk I was so short of breath. I was able to walk but talking and walking and ANYTHING made me short of breath. I was having no pain but I coughed up some blood streaked sputum. I called the doc and they got me in that day. I did a breathing test - which I couldn't even complete - and they did a chest xray. The Xray showed I had a partial lung collapse in my left upper lobe - the same lobe that had been a problem in my dream.

They took me in the following morning for a bronch and cleared the blockage and the lung started to reexpand. No chest tubes or anything were required since the collapse was being cause by a blockage.

Like I said I don't know if that is what you were looking for but that is really the only thing I thought of when I read your post. I typically don't have healing dreams - where I feel better when I wake up (other than having gotten sleep lol) but I will get dreams that seem to predict upcoming events alot.

I also had repeated dreams about my sinus surgery - someone telling me to relax it would be fine - that I should think of this as one step toward preparation for transplant - and I would learn more during surgery (I assumed that meant while I was unconscious). I was extremely calm going into surgery, but don't recall anything from being asleep for the surgery itself.

Take Care and good luck with your assignment.
