my parents and brother use a pellet stove, it burns little wood pellets, and is pretty clean.you just load the top of the stove with pellets and it goes in as needed...no smoke. myself we use propane wall units. it's expensive to fill the tank, but lasts us all winter. and our electric bills are EXTREMELY cheaper. one feb. our bill was 700.00. now they're 90. that's with 4 kids, and tv's and games etc going all the time, not to mention washer and dryer continuously running. so good luck. i agree with the coal being a bad idea. it is cheaper, but for anybody with cf, asthma, or allergies period....it's not a good idea.

I was raised with a wood stove in are house and wouldnt have it any other way. And yes everyone is right dust comes along with it but beats being cold and being poor. I know that sounds mean but as long as u clean everytime u put wood in the stove and spray air refreshner u never smell the smoke and back when I was young dad told me to go to my room and close the door while he was puttin wood in the stove and I never was around the smoke. Dad and I alway when and cut the wood are self so we both got a good work out and the wood didnt cost a dime just a gallon of gas to run the saw. That is just my oppionon.

PS THere are a few people around here that have corn stoves outside or in there basement and they work really well to if u have duck work already ran in ur house
