Hello everyone

First of all, hello to everyone, this is my first post. I'm 22 years old and I was diagnosed two years ago. Although my physician confirmed that I had CF through a new type of test, which was rectal biposy (Ouch!), now she said that the diagnosis is inconclusive because that test is not reliable. Anyway there are more than a thousand of gene mutations identified with cystic fibrosis, so the spectrum of the disease is very wide. I'm not the typical case, because I seem to have symptoms only in the respiratory system, I normally have thick mucus, cough and dyspnea, and all tests indicate that my digestive function is normal, sweat test had borderline results, and my ermm... sperm count is at normal levels. I've been hospitalized two times since my initial diagnosis. I started using Tobramycin 2 times per day since early 2006 when presence of pseudomonas in my lungs where detected, but at the end of 2007/ early 2008 I stopped doing those and since then I only use pulmozyme 1 time per day. I also inhale spiriva and symbicort 1 time per day, and used to take 2 pills per day of Aminophylline.

What I really want to know is if anyone has also been felling tired, loss of concentration, sleep problems, dysthymia, muscle fatigue/weakness, sore throat, decreased memory function or anything related. Feel free to reply or send me a PM at any time.

Where do you live? Have you been tested for Lyme's Disease? Your symptoms sound related to LD.

Aside from that possibility, I do get tired from my colonization with MRSA but do not experience the other symptoms you mentioned.

Welcome!

I do get a sore throat, usually from inhaled TOBI or sinus infection or allergies causing post nasal drip. I also lose my voice from coughing frequently. I have sleep problems, but only when I'm awake coughing. That's about it. Oh yeah, so are they going to do further testing to see if you truly have CF? Welcome. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

I had all of those symptoms except a sore throat before I was diagnosed with CFRD. But you said that you are pancreatic sufficient so I doubt it's that. It could be symptoms of untreated depression, too.
