Okay, this isn't really CF-related, but I might be in trouble...

For the past month, I have had left-sided nosebleeds. It started out as a super hard cough or blowing of the nose to hard. It would bleed for maybe 1 minute and stop.

For the past two weeks, it has intensified...Two days this week, I had gushing nosebleeds for around 10 minutes while trying to get a shower. It just wouldn't stop...

I do have sinus problems and have had 4 surgeries. However, this has kind of just came out of nowhere.

I remember when I had the foster kids that I had massive nosebleeds twice a day for the first couple days...

I use to always have low blood pressure - 90/60. However, the past two years the CF clinic retakes it at least twice hoping to see it come down.

I have my Mom's BP cuff and have started taking some numbers.

120/84, pulse 100 - massive nosebleed
124/89, pulse 91
109/80
127/86

Yesterday was the worst...143/87, pulse 95, 145/92, 140/92, pulse 122

At one point yesterday, I got extremely upset. I could feel my heart beating so fast, and my shoulder was bothering me. After 20 minutes, I was fine when I calmed down...

Both my parents have high blood pressure. My Mom also has a murmur and was already told she will have to have a bypass surgery in the future. Heart disease is present in my family.

However, I am sooooo young...My CF clinic never really made much of it, but now it is really starting to affect me. I never know when the nosebleeds are going to happen. I am 4'11" and 112 pounds too if that helps...

I don't want to wait until I'm picked up off the floor. I attended a funeral yesterday and don't care to be next. The guy and a heart attack behind the wheel and hit a utility pole...

How bad are my numbers??? Do you think it's more heart or more sinus???

Your numbers as a whole are not bad, BUT for you.....evidentally they are bad enough.

Do you "feel" a difference when your numbers are higher versus lower?

I dated a guy who would get terrible nose bleeds when his BP was up. He was not on any type of meds (I would think by now he is tho), drank quite a bit & was "heavier" then what would be acceptable now.

I do hope you find a solution. Just something else to worry about I realize.....

Those home BP cuffs can be a bit dodgy, I would mention it to your PCP. The nose bleeds I would mention to your ENT. They very well could be separate issues.

You worry more about the diastolic (bottom number) pressure than the systolic (top number). 143mmHg systolic isn't all that bad, but the 92mmHg diastolic is slightly above where you want it (most docs want it under 90mmHg). That is if the BP cuff you are using is accurate. You might want to take the home BP cuff with you to your PCP and after they get a manual pressure, take one with the home BP and compare the two.
