I know alot of these question's get asked, sorry here's another one. I honestly don't have a clue what to do, my mind changes every week, lol. I am 24 with a 2 yr old girl, i have been at my job for 4yrs but i am just sick of it, plus i need more pay and better hours. I work the swing shift which takes a toll on me after some time, I just so tired and i have to swich with someone so its not like i can take a little extra time in the morning. I was thinking really about Respirtory Therapist. Does anybody know how long that takes to complete and what are people's input on that. I always thought it would be good cuz then i could get all the new things and it could help me stay healthy. Does anybody else have any good idea that will not take a huge amount of time of schooling. That's my other problem i just don't have time for school so i would be looking for more of online school, cuz between a full time job with different hours and a 2yrs 24hrs and 7 days a week is just not enough lol Thanks for all ideas and everyone's time

I don't think you can get a respiratory therapy degree online, but I could be wrong about that. Education is often the only way out of such a situation. I know they have online courses for things like medical transcription, wehich you can often do at home as a job when you finish school. So there's a thought.

You can do alot online, but you need a certain amount of clinical which means at some point in your studies you will have to do hands on at a hospital etc.

If you have CF, the worst thing you could do would be a RT--why would you want to be exposed to all the respiratory disease that they are exposed to????? If you want to stay in the hospital, look into all the other fields, like XRAY. Or any of the other myriad fields in the healthcare profession now. What do you do now?

I worked as an X-Ray Tech for 8 years before I had my children. But I worked for an orthopedic doctor and then for a doctor who specialized in mammography so that I wasn't exposed to Respiratory illnesses. I enjoyed my job. Hours were flexible and the pay was very good.
