In my ongoing battle with the beancounters, I realized that they may respond to numbers - since they are not responding to health needs.
Has anyone ever seen a comparison of the continued cost to hospitalize and medicate a person with CF, as opposed to the cost to do the transplant.
I don't have the data to back up my hypothesis, but I believe that it will actually save money over the long term to perform the transplant, versus the cost of returning to the hospital every 4 to 6 weeks for a two week stay, plus the cost of the ongoing prescriptions.
My case/appeal would be so much stronger if I could back up this hypothesis with documented numbers.
Any advice appreciated. And thanks, we REALLY need some help here.
