I introduced myself before briefly, I'm Kim and my son CJ, 13, is soon to be tested for CF. His uncle has it and he has alot of symptoms. I have 2 younger children who don't have any symptoms and are very healthy.
I love this forum, you all seem like a great group of people and I admire the strength of you and your children. The way you all support each other is amazing and inspiring.
My prob is that because I am new to all of this, I'm confused by alot of the terminology you all use <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-blush.gif" border="0">
Could someone help me out by filling me in on the more common ones...Tobi, CPT, PFT's etc...also, what exactly is a tune up, I hear it discussed alot.
Thanks so much.

Tobi=Inhaled form of Tobramyacin a common antibiotic used on CFers

CPT=Chest Physical Therapy a/k/a Percussion, Vest or other methods (way to loosen the mucous to help get it up)

PFT=Pulmonary FUnction Test (lung function test)

You will also see:

dx=diagnoses
abx=antibiotic
ct scan=cat scan
hts/hs=hypertonic saline (type of salt water used in nebulizers)

There are others I can remember, but someone else will pipe up.

The definition of a tune up varies a little. Some say its a preventive hospital admission/iv's to avoid a real serious infection. Others say its an admission/iv's after you have reached the point of infection. Either way its iv care with antibiotics
