I am sorry she is so miserable. We have been there and it is not a pleasant thing to go through. I had to chuckle when you said "when Kayla's not happy no one is happy", been there too and I feel your pain.
Anna had/has really bad allergies as well. At first Zyrtec was what worked, that along with a decongestant. Some clinic do not like them to take a decongestant though. She used Flonase for a while but then developed severe, gushing at any given unprovoked (sp) moment, nose bleeds. We tied the tablespoon of local honey, that worked a bit until of course we moved. New area, new allergens. She finally went for a scratch test with the Allergy clinic. They found exactly what her sensitivities were and she started on allergy shots. That worked wonders but it takes some time for it to get in your system, it's not an immediate resolution. Which is what you want, her to feel better NOW. What others have suggested, windows closed (we so used to love a nice breeze through the windows in the spring, no more), keep and eye on the pollen reports and stay inside when needed. Try getting a room purifier. Something that will clean the air inside the house so if you've had your windows open you can get all that old pollen out. Or just go clean and dust every nook and cranny then do it again after it all resettles. I got rid of my nonbagged vacuum cleaner. When you remove that cup you have all that junk sitting right there in the open ready to go right back into the air when you dump it. So much for using a HEPA filter. Lets see what else did we do??? Oh, have her use a nasal rinse. You can get them over the counter for peds. Try McNeil Sinus Rinse, you can get it at Walgreens for sure and probably CVS or any other pharmacy place. The peds one is smaller with a gentler solution. We also used the allergy eye drops for Anna but I don't know about a child (Anna was 14 then). Cold compress, not ice just cold, over the eyes. And TRY as best you can to get her to keep her hands away from her eyes. The more she rubs the worse it gets, she'll just release more histamine.
Oh, I hope something I've suggested helps.
