hey just wanted some advice from all of you. i've been slacking big time and my fev1 dropped 20%. my dr. put me on two oral antibiotics and i have to go back in two weeks. if my numbers aren't up it's iv time.

i thought it would be so easy not working. i thought i would be able to keep the house tidy, do all of my treatments and take care of morgan. well i can't. well it's not that i can't, its just i need a good schedule and something to occupy morgan while i do things.

the seven days that dustin is gone is hard. i do go to my moms pretty much every weekend that he's gone. my mom helps a little. but there are days when i want someone to keep morgan all day and all night so i can rest. i'm also in school so i have to do school work at night.

i guess i'm just asking for a little motivation.

I have always been one that doesn't always comply. But what better motivation than a baby. I want to have a baby very badly, my fev1 is 44% right now, so I need to bring it up, I have been sick. You simply are gonna have to make a schedule and stick to it. It is so easy just to say I'm just gonna skip this treatment. But it catches up with you. I am going to start working out to try to increase my lung function. I have already done the college thing, it was hard to keep up with my regimen. Now that I look back I regret skipping my treatments. You need to stick with it to live as long as you can for your baby, your hubby and yourself....maybe you can make a schedule for your mom to keep the baby and sleep a full day on the weekend. I find I feel better after a good day of rest....good luck!

What motivated me was reading the Warwick research. When I realized the serious impact that missing treatments has I never skipped again. That was about a year ago.

I mostly focus on dishes and laundry, all other cleaning is done here and there. Amelia is a light sleeper so I can't do anything when she naps. I just don't worry about it. I was recently chatting with a very pregnant mom who has a toddler and she was telling me how she spends her days playing with her son and cleans while he naps. She seemed surprised that I napped when Amelia does and lets Amelia watch Sesame Street while I do dishes. I felt a little bad but took a deep breath and told myself I'm doing a good job.

Haley,
I don't have useful advice for you because I bet my treatments are less extensive than yours. However, I do have to say: Do not feel bad for having trouble fitting everything in. When I had my first it came as such a surprise that my baby needed so much care day and night. Then my neighbor went back to work and hired a nanny for her child. It reminded me that people are paid to care for infants. They do not care for themselves. It is a job. People in my neck of the woods are paid more than $600/wk for 40 hrs with one baby.
Yes, if a person is in good health and the baby is too, and the baby has an easy-going temperament, such person may be able to get more done...write a book, invent Baby Einstein video, cook everything from scratch...whatever.
But you are not in that situation. Can you budget in childcare or do a trade with a friend who is extremely honest about her kid's boogers/health? Maybe ask your mom if she can cook and freeze one (or more) meals a week for you. Go to the baby consignment shop or target and buy whatever gimmicky, but often effective, toy you think will distract your baby. I can't think of anything else...like I said, I don't have great advice. My health has gone farther into the crapper with each kid...but I started in a different place.

Bonniebaby,
I think the TV is a lovely educational toy! And leaving your kid be is a good thing too. Parents who play with their kids every minute that they are awake are not doing themselves or their kids any favors, IMHO. Usually they are the kind of people who are obsessed with comparing their kids' achievements to those of other kids. Well, my kid can sing all the songs in the Backyardigans episode "Riding the Range"!
In fact, I type this as my three kids are in a different room of the house picking two pieces of Halloween candy each on the honor system (they don't cheat!). This occupies them for at least 30 min a day, I kid you not :) They are 6,5 & 3. They are learning barter and honesty, community-policing and strategic decision-making :)
