HELP!!!!!!

I got my GJ-tube about 4 weeks ago and right now it is in a allot of pain. I have no clue why.. It hurts the most right under the hole where it goes in under the bumper bad. The hole is a bit red and has been letting out infection and I don't kown way?! It is soooo sore I can't move my tummy much to get out of bed..

I have been running my Vest system on high due to mucus plugs could that make this that sore? So is there anything I can do at home to help the pain?

I dont know anything about G-Tubes, but I do know when anything is red, feels hot (feverish), painful and is producing pus or infection, then you need to call your doctor or go to the ER as soon as possible...don't wait!! Running the Vest on high isnt helping matters as far as irritation and pain goes. Don't wait around with this, you dont want it to get worse. Get it checked out soon, better safe than sorry.

When I got my g-tube put in I had the same problem. Unfortunately, my home health nurse at the time kept telling me that it was normal, so I waited a very long time before actually going to my doctor's office to get it checked out. Of course, by the time that I went in the site around the tube was swollen really bad, so we all knew what it was.
I ended up having to get that big ball of "stuff" on the infection site popped, and they replaced my tube right then in the office. Not trying to scare you at all, just letting you know my experience with it. If I wouldn't have ever listened to that dumb home health nurse i could've avoided the whole situation.

It sounds irritated and maybe infected. I would use hydrogen peroxide on a q-tip to clean it up. We also used an antibiotic cream. It did help. The vest could be aggrivating the site. Make sure you keep a foam pad or towel over it when you are doing treatments.

One of my kids got granulation tissue from his g-tube stoma. It started off looking very red and irritated. Over a period of a week, the red tissue began growing out of the site. It was UGLY! He had to have it treated with silver nitrate to get rid of it. It been fine since (3 years).

Kepp your eyes on it and call the GI nurse. Maybe they can give you some advice!
