Kelly-along with the things the others have said make sure to check for ABPA and inflammatory triggers. I am still in progress of figuring my bleeds out but I believe some of them to be due to inflammation and others infection. Mine also seem to be hormonally related.

Some questions you may want to ask is have you done anythign differently with your birth control regimen?

Has anything in your breathing environment changed?

Also have doctors check your IGE level, that is when I started having bleeds (when I developed high IGE and ABPA).

Since yours seem to be following a pattern I would keep a diary to see if you can notice a trend.

Also as far as the presents to your twins I dont find it weird. We have a better grasp on the brevity of our lives than many, I think most people do these sorts of tasks when they found out they have an illness. Our advantage is that we know how short life is and like to prepare. I think its also an added dynamic to it when you have children and that responsibility for knowing you want to stick around for them too. I have thought about writing letters to my daughter for special events etc

One thing I would note is that if you are having a hard time you may want to see someone to get somethign for the anxiety you are dealing with.

Take care

I wanted to mention that I was also a chronic bleeder. Also very active. Bleeding for me was usually a sign of infection. I would not treat it right away till i was actually sick enough to go in the hospital. But there were things that I learned to do at the first sign of bleeding, like streeking. Don't do therapy for 24 hours. This can raise your blood pressure. Don't exercise for 24. Rest and relax. I even will take an extra vit K. if I streak for more than a couple of days. Also something I don't hear people mention I imagine cause they don't want to admit to themselves is that cat, dog, and other pets can be a irritator or an allergy problem that can cause bleeding. If you have allergies and you have animals count on bleeding now and again. Almost everyone I know with CF all my life with animals who refused to deal with the thought of giving up their pets either bleed a lot or are sick more often than not. I attribute my long life to sacrificing the pets( which I love dearly). I bleed a lot more when I tried having a stray cat around. God always takes care of me with a stray now and again, or a dog who stops to say hello now and again. i enjoy them from afar now.
I streaked the other day and took it easy and nothing has come of it so far. It has been years since I had a really big bleed,( with transfusion), needed.
I Hope this helped.
