high heart rate during exercise

So I started the exercise program through my cf clinic. My heart rate went to 196 while walking fast on the treadmill. What can cause that? I had 98% O2 sats and was breathing well enough to speak. My exercise program is now on hold and I have to go see my doc to get cardiac clearance.

WAAAAAA!

Oh noooooooooo!!!!!!!!

Ya you might have to take time to build up to fast walking But good for you for monitoring your heart rate and sats!!!!! *applause"

I have noticed myself that my heart rate has gone down by about 10bpm resting and about 10-15bmp while exercising over the past 8 months. I guess my heart has just gotten stronger.

But it sounds to me that something else might be going on. But again, I truly applaud you for monitoring these things. I bet you'll be able to figure out what's up soon

Are you sure that your heart rate monitor is working correctly? Your batteries might be dying, etc, which can lead to funny readings... 196 bpm while still being able to speak doesn't really add up. Also, 98% O2 sats while exercising is not problematic...

If you try walking again, use your heart rate monitor and check to make sure its working by taking your pulse using your fingers in your neck or between your bicep and tricep on the inside of your arm and a stop watch.

Of course, if you find the same result, i hope the cardiologist can help figure out what's going on.

My monitor showed it at 208 during a slow jog. The monitor at the exercise programs office showed 196 for walking fast. It's really that high.
