high heart rate during exercise

I never could get it that high.. when it would get to 160 before i had my tx i wouldn't know where to find the air to breath anymore.

After my tx that would happen at about 150.. I had to begin very very slow and do a little more every 2 weeks. Now i notice that my heartrate is much better.
In rest it is about 90 and with exercise (about 10 minutes on only 4km/h) or on the bike with 42 watts and 18km/h it goes to about 130.

I'm sorry to hear your heartrate is this high, i understand it must have been scary and a shock to see. I think you need to start slower... and let your heart/body get stronger again.

Good luck sweetie!

well in all my years as a paramedic, i can tell you having a increased heart rate at rest and especially at work is bad. Here is why its bad, ask yourself, what is the heart...its a huge muscle...and what do muscles do when they get worked hard....they grow !!! as that grows, eventually it will grow o large blood cant get pumped through it effectively and will cause heart attacks or even strokes from the blood pooling and clotting. people with respiratory issue can also have this happen, because the body uses more energy to breath which cause your heart to have to pump more, and again causing a large muscular heart...granted this will take years to happen, but keep it in mind.....and just another great problem us cf patients are blessed with to worry about.

It may be something related to pulmonary hypertension. I thought that was caused if your SATs were low - but since yours are not I do not know if that would even apply.

I know I am tachycardic (fast heart rate) but my resting heart rate is about 80 and my heart rate when I do anything ranges between 90-115 - gets to about 140-160 with exercise. That is post transplant though.

Before I had my transplant my resting heart rate was about 125 and my heart rate at exercise or with ANY exertion was easily 140 and that was with something like standing or walking.

Also something to consider would be when you are exercising. Meaning is it after you take albuterol or another med that might increase your heartrate on its own and then the exercise is just adding to that. Is your potassium level low? I had a low potassium level once and honestly felt like I was having a heart attack.

Just some thoughts. I hope that they figure out what the problem is.

Take Care,
Lindsey
