My daughter's VEST made a really weird noise during her morning treatment and just Died! of course it's weekend and customer service at Hillrom is not available(as far as I know) til Monday. I left a message on their customer service line. Looking for advice if there is anyting else I can do. We will be doing manual chest PT of course. And of course she has a cold and need really good CPT.

THis VEST just got replaced; not that long ago. It's strange it died so quickly. I wonder if we are getting refurbished VEST machines or something.

Any advice is appreciated. Do you think Manual CPT will be ok while she has a cold? I already told her she needs to go outside and ride her bike this weekend.

If your technique is good, manual can be better for her actually. My mother did it 3x a day when I had a cold. I found it more effective than the vest occasionally. Put on a good movie and start pounding!
Hope she feels better, and hope your arms feel better by monday morning

Yeah, I thought I could really pound on her in a more focused way. I did some manual this am and when I was done she let out one good cough. So maybe it'll be good to do this manual stuff this weekend. I need the upper body workout A side note; the VEST company did check their messages on Saturday and the customer service person is shipping out a new VEST to arrive on Monday. So that's good! The VEST that died made this sound like a dying cat and then stopped, it was soo strange.

We had the same problem with the vest and air compressor for nebs dying this weekend too! But the vest machine didn't make any weird noises it's just not putting out much air. And the neb machine sounds broken for sure. I think ours are 6 years old... never had to replace them before. Didn't think to call the company though, bf is going to call the hospital to find out what to do with it.

So glad to hear you'll be getting a new vest so quickly. Mine has been acting funky for the past several months - just sort of losing it's pressure intermittently during a treatment. So that's good to know they can be replaced if they break!

I keep wondering if ours is maybe going to "self destruct" a few months ago, it turned on by itself in the middle of the night. 'Course our house could be haunted...

Just a thought~ have the two vests always been plugged into the same outlet and/or the same surge protector? If so, given two died in rapid succession it may be worth checking to be sure you aren't having something short out/malfunction on that circuit- the vest uses a lot of power.

HillRom's customer service has been great for us every time we've needed it too- so glad you are getting a new one right away!

The VEST came today! My arm was killing me, however I learned some new things from this experience. Manual CHEST pt is good. My daughter felt that I hit her harder than the VEST. SHe said the VEST just vibrates her but my manual pounding hits her better. Also, THe Hill Rom VEST co does refurbish the VEST; I guess I assumed we got a new machine each time; I was told they do clean the machines. The hoses and garments obviously are not refurbished. So, I plan on incorporating some manual chest pt in for my daughter more regularly. Also, my husband took my daughter on a big hike yesterday, really got some good exersize in and today it was so nice out we spent 2 hours at the ocean; my daughter and son built a sand castle, the lugging of water and running back and forth to get the water was good exersize for her! She still has a residual cough and some gunk from her cold so we are trying really hard to avoid her heavy antibiotics. Always learning something new with this disease, but sometimes the most basic things work, too!
