Holding your breath

Hi all,

I couldn't resist.... I could hold it for 50 secs!!!! (but almost passed out trying to hold it for that long, I can do 30 sec comfortably).

I practiced a few times before, I found that if I took a smaller breath in, for some reason I could hold it longer. Plus, I think all the antibiotics I've been on have finally started to do their job, so I'm having a good day today. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

a minute...are you serious! how, kiel, how?!</end quote></div>

It's called "hold it until you are about to die"

yup, pretty much sums it up. I didn't do this, however, if you hyperventilate for about 30 seconds to a min, you can hold your breath a lot longer.

Maybe I'll try that later, seeing as it's 11:40 and i can't sleep. That wouldn't be a prob if i didn't have to WORK

oh life...

I used to be able to hold my breath for really long periods of time. When I was younger, I prided myself on being able to swim underwater, several full lengths of our long lap pull. The other kids would try to beat me, and i'd always win...I think my record was maybe 5 laps under water (it was a pretty long pool). In my 20's in my partying years, we would have people in my current pool at my house, swimming, skinny dipping, having sex or whatever, and i'd try it then also, I think I got 3 or 3 and a 1/2 laps under water, and still beat everyone. No idea how long i'd be able to just hold my breath now. I've found I was always able to hold my breath longer if I was physically doing something, like swimming, and had a general goal for doing it.

Maybe if I get bored later i'll see, but i'm pretty sure it would be atleast 30 seconds.
