Home Improvement - Replacing a kitchen sink

We're in the process of remodeling our kitchen and have yet to replace the kitchen sink. I pretty much destroyed/ melted our existing acrylic one by pouring DS' nebulizer soup (boiling water) down it.

So would prefer a hard surfaced sink -- wondering about cast iron/porcelain. We have had stainless steel in the past, but with granite tile countertops would prefer something a little nicer. Suggestions?

We have a porcelain sink; not by choice- came with the house. Dishes chip and break so much easier in it than they do in a stainless steel or acrylic sink. There are things you can put in the bottom of the sink, of course, to help with this but then you lose some of the 'nice' look you are going for. If it was up to me I'd go with stainless- much easier to keep clean than porcelain, too- and for an extra nice touch, spring for especially elegant hardware and a nice edging around the sink.

Wondering though if newer porcelain sinks are more stain resistant than old ones. That is a big detractor from the one I have! It's very hard to keep it looking nice- I have to scour it with Ajax very regularly to remove stains and scratch marks, etc.

I like the "country" look of my porcelain sink, but it is hard to maintain & many glasses & dishes have been broken.
Mine came with the house & I wont give it up.

Stainless steel is much easier to maintain & can blend in nicely if done right.....

Have you gotten new appliances? are they stainless steel? I really do think that in most situations a stainless steel sink would be best. I think if you get the right faucet it'll look good
