Home IVs-Medicare

For those of you that have Medicare Part A/B--does Medicare cover anything related to home IVs???

Medicare is my secondary, so most of my home IV expense (if needed) would be covered by my primary but I didn't know if Medicare would pick up payment for any of the meds, nurse visits to set up IVs, etc.

I have Medicare (which is primary) and also insurance from my work (secondary). When I had home IV's in January, I kept calling both companies to see what kind of bills I'd be getting. Well I have not gotten ANY bills. They told me it would be covered at 100%(I didn't believe them), and once I met my deductible I was good to go. I had home nursing (for blood draws, new port needles, etc).
I always seem to have a lot of issues with my insurances so I don't have any great advice for you other than make a lot of calls so you understand things clearly.
For instance, albuterol should be covered at 100% because you have to use a machine to administer it. I had to go back and forth w/my clinic and RX, had to get a letter from my doc, etc. to get it covered. But with a little work, things might go in your favor.

Sorry I couldn't be more helpful! Hang in there!

Medicare won't cover any of the infusion costs, but they will pick up on the home health care. I had to sign something saying I was homebound and wouldn't leave the house other than dr appts and family events, ie funeral.
