As a homeowner and being responsible for the typical male stuff around the house, I am wondering if I would be able to do these things after a transplant.

mowing lawn, and other yard work (I have a large lot 1.5 acres, 3/4 acre of grass to cut)
DIY stuff, fixing things, light carpentry or remodel, painting
catching a mouse in the house. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

I just bought a house in September and was told that the only things I need to not do was mowing the grass and that I would have to be careful with other yard work (wear gloves and a mask because of the fungus in dirt).

Also, I need to be careful doing housework. Cleveland advised me to use pre-moistened towels for dusting and to have someone else do the vacuuming since it kicks dust up into the air. I was allowed to paint the rooms though but wasn't allowed to help with refinishing the hardwood floor. Dad and boyfriend had to do those things <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

The overall thing to keep in mind is that if it gives off fumes or dust, I'd avoid it unless you get permission from you center and outside things are a no unless you wear a mask.

If you do something and it kicks up dust wear a mask and if your not sure if you should ask your clinic but you should not be limited for the most part.

The fungus spores in dirt are small enough to get through those paper masks, so they won't do much for preventing Aspergillus.

Anna' was on Itraconozole (Sporonox) when she got Aspergillus about 7 mo. post tx in the dead of a NE winter! Better to wear the mask if your digging in dirt. Stanford strongly encourages masks for yard work, gardening and time spent in a barn, no cleaning stalls, and at the least a N95 like she mentioned. Actually, I think they said not to do those things but if you do, wear the mask, preferably the respirator mask with the magenta P100 filters they issue when you get to the step down unit, but will accept usage of the N95.

PS. Anna' did none of those things.
