you can die from tylenol. or drinking too much water.

or driving in the car.

i know, it's scary, but you need to keep it in perspective.......

I agree, but when I went to look up side effect info. on cefepime, this warning is on all the medical pages that the FDA is looking into a high occurance of death, so that is something that perks my interest.

There are also disclaimers when reading info. on cefepime that this information is pending an FDA review of the medication. Here is an example:

http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medline...medmaster/a698021.html

These sorts of things are alarming since they are not usually found on medical information sites (that I've seen anyway). For example, when I do a search for ceftazadime, there is not a warning that pops up from the FDA. I have not seen an FDA review on higher frequencies of death with tylenol, etc. (unless you abuse it) I agree we have to keep it in perspective, but this seems kinda serious IMO. Kinda like zyvox (? wasn't that one of them?) and other meds that now there are class action lawsuits cause so many people died while on it prior to being pulled from the market. I just find it a bit disheartening is all....

I certainly think this is worth asking your doctor about. You have every right to know what your risks are when you are prescribed a medication. I think some of us worry about bothering our clinics with questions. They are not the ones who have to live with the decisions, we are. A simple phone call or e-mail might ease your mind. I do agree with NoExcuses that there are risks to all medications and we need to keep it in perspective.
