Thank you so much for posting this, while I agree that you can "die from tylenol" this study is beyond the normal side effects, this is talking about an increase in death related to this drug.

Yes drugs have side effects, I just was on this drug and I for the first time experienced neutrapenia, and I am going to email my doctor so she can call in the results for this study.

It is important not to Blindly except all things that come from doctors as far as drugs go, and Sonia I applaud you for doing research. Yes we can go overboard sometimes but I feel like we are the only ones with a true VESTED interest in our health, and we need to be proactive.

The study won't be complete for four months, that is when the offical report is going to be out.. I am so curious to see if they end up pulling the drug or not... It may be deamed safe, and I hope it is..

But I just wanted to applaud you for being so proactive.. I should be more so, I am a nurse and I of all people know how falliable medications can be,

Thank you, Jennifer. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

I am interested to hear what your doc says about the study. I will also be mentioning it to my doc. It looks like the study was started in November 2007, so they really should have some results by March (I hope). I too am really curious if it will result in cefepime being pulled from market. Its unfortunate if they pull it since it does help CFers, however in the same respect, if the threat of death is statistically significant it probably is a good idea in the long run. What a sad thing if a CFer fights all his/her life to get/stay well and just cause they take cefepime they end up losing the battle. Again, I'm just really interested in the outcome.

I appreciate your kind words about my pro-activeness.... I sometimes think (know) I go overboard and really psych myself out. However, whenever I'm put on a new med I feel it in my best interest to find out all I can about it. Not just the side effects, but what its made of, which class of meds its in, what it works in synergy with, how it is used in CF treatment, etc. I guess I'm a little compulsive, but because of that I seem to sleep better at night knowing I'm as educated as I can be. I've yet to find a doctor that sits and explains all the pros and cons and chemical compounds of what I'm going to put into my body, so I do it myself.

I hope you're feeling better. And again, thank you for your kind words.
