I often smell a "smoky" scent when I have an infection too. When I first noticed it a few years ago, I kept trying to figure out where cigarette smoke was coming from. Turned out it was just infection in my sinuses! lol

Yep i get that with infections in my nose too. The reason you may be smelling it now after you had surgery, is because before surgery you probably didnt have a great sense of smell. Now that the sense of smell is improved, you can smell the infection. I have times where i have a good sense of smell and there are times i cant smell a darn thing. Every now and again i can smell my sinus's. Very odd smell. Almost reminds me of the smell of my one lizard that passed away 11 years ago.

Infection!! Sometimes I start to get a smell up my nose and I run and flush my nose... sometimes it gets better if I stay on top of it. If it is a full blow "stink" then off to the doctor I go!

We have all smelly noses from time to time. I believe it is also from an infection. I have a stinky smelly nose once a year if I am not properly irrigating my sinuses three times per day. Nobody else can smell it, just me.

Whenever I had this nasty scent, It usually lasts for 7-10 days.

A month ago, I had a mild chest cold and started smelling the usually sinus infection seven days into my cold.

THE odd thing for me is that I do not bring anything out when I notice this smell only after the smell is gone that the mucus comes out.

This particular sinus infection lasted more than ten days.

HOW did it stop? Well, my acupuncturist gave me a new probiotic and I noticed three days later, the smell completely went away. I cannot say for sure if this was the case or not. I knew in time it would go away as it usually does. This particular probiotic helps people with C-diff. I also noticed a big change in my bowel movements. I believe it is possible since I had C-diff three years ago that I could have had some spores remaining in my colon.

In chinese medicine, the lungs and the large intestine are of the metal element. If your large intestine is blocked, it will effect your lungs in some way. There is also a connection to the sinuses.

I took only one probiotic daily that he recommened for about ten days. After the ten days, I decided to only take this probiotic when needed and use a general broad spectrum for every day use. I energy test to determine which one I need. Some days I need one and the another day, I need another. Maybe this is because I am a transplant patient (drugs that I take).

My Acupuncturist is also a respiratory therapist and works here in Florida. Here is his website
<a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://acupuncture-physician.com/">http://acupuncture-physician.com/</a> His name is Ray

He is still in the middle of setting up his website. He is a super nice man and feel honored to know him. I know him for over a year. I know he was working with a young boy with cf.

Ciao for now,
