Hospital Admissions??

Hi, I was wondering if I could get some information. Our son is 15 months old and has had some junk in his upper lobes and tons of congestion for the past 3 weeks. We just finished a 2 week round of augmentin. I have a call out to the doctor now, waiting on a call back with the next course of action, as he is getting worse.

But... I would like to know what types of symptoms generally constitute a hospital admission for others with young children??

We are still pretty new to this and I was just wondering...

Thanks

Every time Briceton has been admitted, he has had pneumonia or an exacerbation with fever. Seems like if a fever is present in him along with a cough, then he is admitted for IV infusions no questions asked. This has turned out to be about every 4-6 months that he is admitted.

Otherwise, for Briceton, if a cough is the only present symptom they just put him on oral antibiotics or steroids and we up his CPT to 3x daily and his Pulmozyme from once daily to 2x daily. Seems to help with him.

Again, this is our plan with Briceton now, things may change on how we handle his admissions in the future. It could be that your LO needs a really good dose of andtibiotics at this point, meaning with IV infusions or just maybe a different oral antibiotic to get him over this.

Best wishes and hope he gets to feeling well soon!

My son has only been admitted once since his diagnosis (he had another before we knew he had Cf that led to the diagnosis).

For the most recent admission, he had a junky cough that wouldn't clear up. We did 3 rounds of antibiotics and two of those were with orapred, but still couldn't kick it. They also had adjusted his asthma meds and tried an allergy med in case it was allergies. All of that didn't help, so in we went.
