hospital indemnity policy...

HOLY FREAKEN MOLY....

I had no idea about any such policy..... NONE.. I am going to look into this right away.. I am not like you at all Sean, I beg and plead with all my heart to go home.. they never let me go, unless I would be willing to sign out against medical advice before 10 days minimum...

If I can get a policy covering a $100 a day for each day I am in the hospital, that would save me so much heartache of missing work. Granted I will be making way more than that as nurse but that will be enough to supplement my income...

Can anyone please tell me what exact policy they have???? What number I can call etc????I am so excited.. I have a feeling my hospital stays will be much less when I finish school but still... It would be so worth it to me...

Thanks again,

Jennifer

I will get you my info later Jenn.....I am shaking at the moment. I mean it is 8 pm! My social worker at my CF clinic asked me if I had a policy because they try to get all their patients on some type of policy. I had mine prior to her asking tho!

Just google up this: Aflac, United American, Physician's Mutual and indemnity insurance policy. Just putting in indemnity insurance policy will return a bunch of hits. All of those are real good companies and have great policies. There are ton's of them out there though, so you could technically have a boatload of different policies, go into the hospital in a years time, and walk away with a ton of money to do something with your house, car, or even say screw it and go travel some.

I had a friend, also w/CF, who had 2 or 3 different policies... When he was getting nearer to the end of his life, couldn't work, on oxygen 24/7, etc....he would pull in ( I think) about $2000-$3000 per hospitalization, and he and his girlfriend would travel...They went to Europe, Hawaii, a cruise....good for him. To echo what someone above here said, we put up with alot, so Im happy for him that this was available and he was able to have some fun in his last year or two.

An Aflac rep was at my husband's work the other day. The policy we were looking at with them was expensive, about $1000 per year. But it covered $500 per day for the first five 5days of a hospitalization, and $100 per day after that. If the hospitalizations were more than 30 days apart, it was considered a new hospitalization and would start at $500 per day again. The rep is supposed to get back to my husband later this week about pre-existing conditions. He seemed to think that after 6 months everything would be covered, but was double checking for us because of the CF. We figured that although it is expensive is was like pre-paying our medical deductible. And we would gladly waste the $1000 if it meant our daughter was healthy for that year!

Editied: No lifetime maximum on the policy

Calm down Jenn....there often is a max on the policiies so this is something you need to find out also when inquiring about them.

I have a question about all of these policy's- if you receive SSI will this mess up your benefits from them. Your supposed to show all of the money you bring in, I didn't know if this counts. I hope not<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">
