My daughter has a son with CF (2years old) and she is at school training to be a nurse. One day a week she is in the hospital and comes home in the clothes she has been wearing all day. Is there anything she can bring home on these clothes or is she OK doing this?

I am a nurse and I also work in a hospital. This is what I do..I wear scrubs and when I get home I have a separate laundry basket for my scrubs. I take a shower right after work and put regular clothes on. I do my nurse scrubs in a separate laundry load and throw a cup full of bleach in the load as well. I also leave my nurse shoes at work. I have direct patient contact with LOTS of bad germs and I have been doing this since I went back to work about 3 years ago. I was very nervous about bringing bad bacteria home. HTH

My backround was emergency medicine so I was constantly exposed to germs, which ended up backfiring in my face, I now work one day a week and I do not work around any germs at all, or any more then the average person would get in just being out in public, maybe even a little less.

Never let her wear her hospital shoes home. Mine have never seen my house nor will they ever. Scrubs come off in the garage, they are washed in bleach. I scrub from head to toe when I get home and I am NEVER around sick ppl.

Bad germs live on our clothes, hair, stehascope, pens etc. None of those things ever come in my house ever.

You just need to have her be very careful and make sure she showers well before she even thinks of touching her baby

I am also a nurse, although I do not work directly with patients anymore (I do administration).

However, my spouse is an RT and has direct patient contact. As soon as she gets home, her scrubs go right down the basement. They get bleached in the wash as well.
