hospital/visitors after baby is born

I do not believe they will be told why they have to wear a mask as I think it's a HIPAA violation.
when you say "they don't know I am sick" Do you mean they don't know you have cf?

personally....
I wouldn't have them visit you in the hospital. Wait until you are well enough at home to have them there.

As someone once told me be prepared to have any visitor viewing you struggling breastfeeding with your upper body fully exposed and possibly even being manhandled by a lactation consultant. This is of course if you plan to breastfeed. After all... those two days your in the hospital after the baby comes are for you and your babies recovery and for you to prove you're ready/capable to take the baby home. Cfers should be focused on getting out of the germy hospital IMHO. Also, don't underestimate the stress on the babe of traveling through the birth canal. Also the stress bf'ing may be while you are in this "delicate" stage.

Simplify.

Just tell them it's hospital policy - only X number of visitors while you are in recovery. The hospital will play the "bad guys" if you make them aware of your request.

If you are going to try breastfeeding, tell your lacation nurse and your floor nurse for the shift that you don't want any visitors while you are feeding the baby, too. I actually didn't have to tell my lacation nurse! I was one of her first time mommies, and it was Everybody out! and the baby wasn't even in the room (she was in the Nicu)- she was teaching me how to use the pump- lol (she was great ).

If you ask, they can also check with you before letting anyone into your room.

I too would ask that only close family and friends be allowed in while you are in the hospital. Don't wear yourself out, and don't stress about the masks. Sometimes avoidance is a good/necessary thing .

i'm definitely going to make the hospital play the bad guys. i don't want a ton of people at the hospital after the baby is born. they can wait a few days or a week to come see her at home. i'm not a big fan of a lot of people at the hospital. and i am a very modest person and i want to breastfeed so i really don't want people all up in my business. maybe the mosdesty will die down after a few weeks.
