How big are your lungs?

I have been wondering about this for a while but never had access to a group of CF'rs before.

My lungs, while they don't work very well any more, are a good 2 to 3 inches longer than they normaly would be. I finally got worried about having to have all my X-Rays done twice so now I tell them before that they are longer than normal.

Am I just wierd or does anybody else have this?

I have the same issue. I've had to be x-rayed twice also and like you, I tell the technicians: beware, they're longer than my height would indicate.
I have long torso though, so I figure my longs are normal for my torso? Not sure. Maybe I have extra lung tissue too.

Do you have a long torso? Check your armspan. Is it less than your height? Mine is.

An arm span equation is used to calculate predicted spirometry numbers for people with spinal or other problems where height is distorted.

Just found this site.

I don't think my lungs are longer than normal but.. my rib cage is a bit longer than it should be for my size. I am short but I have a long torso. I had a cardiac nurse tell me this (he was teaching us how to do old fashioned percussion).

I think the symptom "barrel-chest" is common in people with CF. I deal with a lot of lung inflammation, so I would asume that my lungs are bigger.

I just went through the tests for transplant and I was told that I have big lungs. I don't know the measurement in inches but I was told that I have 7.5 litre lungs and that the average size of people on the waiting list have 4.5 - 5.0 litre lungs.
