I heard it's something like 10-20%. I am in that group and I have had kidney stones since I was 18 years old. So far I have only needed 2 lithotripsy procedures, but I am due for a check-up and I'm pretty sure they are back.

I haven't had kidney stones but I sure did have gallstones.
I've been told kidny & gallstones are fairly common with CF. I never knew this until I had my problem(s).
After I had my gallbladder out I had gallstones that blocked my common bile duct.
While not common, it does happen.
In both cases the stones were absolutely MISERABLE!
If kidney stones are anything like what I've already gone through I want nothing to do with them.
Best of luck to you, hope you don't suffer from any of these problems

i was told by my CF team that it's pretty common! i, myself, have only had them once and i hope it NEVER happens again!! that was some horrible pain! fortunately, it came on, passed and was gone all in one night, but that was one night of NO SLEEP i'll never get back...

COMMON!
I've had 2 bouts with ks. 3 yrs ago I had a record breaking 17 mm stone, that almost shut down my right kidney and required 6 lithotripsies to get rid of.
Currently I'm battling a small 4 mm stone thats tiny but wiggling its way out and irritating the heck out of me.
I've talked with quite a few docs about this in relation to my cf and researched it alot on my own and my theory is all the years of drugs we take. Many of them are cleared out through the kidneys (example:tobramycin) and how much can your kidney take?
Well bottom line we need the drugs. But its making me be much more proactive about hydration.
Hello everyone!Thank you. Yes i have problem with kidneystones. From the beginning in 2009. Did i have kidneystones every 6 month. Yes it is very painfull. Last year did i get à med called EMGESAN. That should stop kidneystones to come back .i was hopefull when 6 month had passed and no stones and a few more months. But my doc was thinking under this time the stones had build up very slowly and i had an x-ray to be sure. And now i wait for My 3th surgery to remove the Stones. I have cf clinic on momday so will ask what they think. Hugs
