I found some online information once on cepacia when I was trying to find out what it was. I wish I could find those links, but I have no clue now where they were. Of course you can't believe everything you hear, so take this with a grain of salt. It will probably make you paranoid like I am now!
Of course, you can catch it from other CFers and some on this board swear they caught it from being in the hospital (possibly from staff not washing hands). I always wonder about the people that come in and clean your rooms, how clean are they and do any of you refuse to let them clean until your stay is up?
I have also heard of instances where hospitals have their own water system (I assume their own water tower or something??) and their water tested positive for cepacia.
I also heard years ago there was a type of mouth wash used in hospitals that was not Scope or a name brand, but more like a medical supply brand, anyway I read that it had cepacia. Of course, this brand isn't made anymore.
I will try to search for these links again & share them

You can also catch it from old/nearly rotten onions in the fridge. Was either onions or potatoes, I say onions.

it was onions

a lot of times you never can know how you caught it. i assume from the hospital, but it is in the environment

however, it is technically inconclusive whether cepacia in the environment (like onions) can really be passed to humans, etc.

</a>(look at last article)

Here's an article on hospital water quality, please keep in mind that this may be an isolated case or an older article & hopefully steps have been taken to eliminate water bacteria.

I couldn't find the specific hospital water link that I mentioned above, but if you put cepacia, water & hospital in your search engine you will find a few articles
Is everyone paranoid now?? Sorry
Hope

Seems to give even more credence to keeping your body an inhospitable host for the bacteria in the first place via proper supplements and essential oils. Proactive is always better than reactive.
