How do you clean a Flutter Valve

I'd wash it with soap and water and THEN boil it, since the boiling is what sterilizes it- just like cleaning the nebs, where we wash first, then sterilize.
eta> I'm glad it did ok being boiled, though... I guess you'll find out over time how it tolerates it.

I think the boiling is fine....I have had mine for about 19 years and have been boiling it the whole time....just like my other neb cups. As long as you watch it and don't let the water run out-it should be fine. I don't like just using soap and water-I am afraid bacteria will still be on it. I don't put it in the microwave to boil because of the ball of course....so just on the stove.

This is interesting. I've always been told that a flutter cannot tolerate boiling water. And, since you blow into it instead of from it, I would think that handwashing with soap and hot water would clean it enough that it would be fine. I mean, we breathe from a spacer and those are to only be handwashed also.

Anyway, I'm glad it did not break on you, and please let me kow if you continue to sterilize it with no problems! The cleaner the better!

I put Emily's spacers into our steam sterilizer (which reaches 212*) and they do fine. (They've been run through it more times than I can count. We have a couple Aerochambers with the valved end, and another brand that is escaping my memory at the moment, also with a valved piece at the end.)

The Acapella you inhale and exhale with it in your mouth. You don't do that with the Flutter?
