Hello,

I am 28 years old and only weight 100 lbs. I have a feeding tube, eat a little thoughout the day, just started working out more. I live a very active life being a emergency medical dispatcher, bass angler, and a paramedic student. I am marrie. My whole life I have been under weight, and to be honest it is anoying me. My doctors have put me on 5 cans of feeding formula a night, I am usually so full I dont eat until dinner time. They have also considered growth hormones. This weight problem is destroying my life, my wife told me a few months ago she was assamed of the way I look. I need help, please give me some ideas

Hi there. You mentioned you had started working out. That has been the thing that has helped my son the most. Putting muscle on has greatly improved his health. He drinks protein and weight gainer shakes along with his workout routine. It has taken him a couple of years to get where he is, but he's so much more comfortable with how he looks and feels.

I know my son goes through periods of time where he has almost no appetite. He tells me that if he puts anything in his mouth, he will gag. Other times I can't fill him up. I find myself adding extra fat to almost everything in an attempt to make up for the times he doesn't eat much. Also, he is almost always up for a snickers, so I keep them in stock. Sometimes even when you can't stomach food, you can go for candy. lol

I can't help myself with this next comment. Since you said you've been under weight your whole life, I would think your wife knew what you looked like when she married you. I'm sorry she told you she is ashamed of you. I think you should grab a snickers, go fishing, and leave her at home! The fish don't care what you look like.

How well are your enzymes working? (aka, how's the poop?)

Does your GI have any suggestions? If not, maybe consider consulting with another GI doc.

Do you have CFRD? When we you last tested?

I agree w/Stacey on the wife - how awful to say. It's funny she brings up snickers - my son loves them. I always keep candy bars, cookies, and any other junk food he likes. Tanner is 10, around 5' and weighs 115 pounds. So we have never had a weight problem except when he was under 1. He gained 7 lbs the last 3 times (every 3 months) that we went to clinic(21 pounds total). The nurses and docs were shocked. I did start him on Juice plus last March so I'm not sure if that is what helped or not. He loves to play sports and run.

My son eats a full snickers or cookies for breakfast (never did like cereal). But figured something is better than nothing. He loves to snack - chips, cheetos anything. His favorite food is chicken strips and fries. So I guess we are lucky that he likes fattening food and usually always has an appetite. Good luck with your weight!!
