How do you know when you can work out again?

It's true, I cough from even the most naturally scented cleaning supplies (I've eliminated all scent except for a wood polish that is made with almond extract--guess I need to open the windows.)

I used to have a couple cleaning ladies come every two weeks, but to help pay for my fancy vacuum, I cut them back to once a month. I'm going to keep trying this and see how it goes.

Also, cooking smells do it for me too: tight chest. I am not going to stop baking squashes and meat and stir frying green veggies, so I guess I need to run the vent over the stove more often too.

We've eliminated all toxic cleaners (and pesticides) and cleaning still makes us ill because it exposes us to the crud we are trying to clean, which is full of germs (and other junk). As we have gotten the apartment gradually cleaner, less of our time and energy is sapped by stuff like that. For example, we have very few possessions, so there is little dust to begin with and a lot fewer things to clean. Getting rid of toxic cleaners has done wonders for us but no matter what you clean with, cleaning still puts you in contact with the grime that needs to go. We've developed a lot of habits to reduce the impact of that on us but it is inevitable that it still temporarily causes a problem, no matter how many precautions we take.

I usually wait until I am almost completely better. I've found that working out when I am sick just makes me feel worse and sicker. I hope you feel better soon!

Exercise temporarily supresses our immune system. Unless you're 90% better, you don't want to compromise your immune system. I've found that when I'm just about over a cold, a great workout will knock out the remaining crap.
