How do you make it work??

Some people feel a sense of reward keeping the house. I don't really enjoy it or find it rewarding. Don't get me wrong I like a clean, orderly house but I don't feel real proud if I accomplish it over someone else doing it.

What works for me is having things going on in my life that make me really proud and that I enjoy doing. I am on the board of the Women's club in charge of Membership. I am also very involved with the CFF. I recently started planning a new Great Strides walk in my area. Additionally, I enjoy building friendships and teaching my son how to be a good friend. I am in charge of the Sunshine group for the Neighbors and Newcomers group through which I organize meals to be delivered to new mom's homes and send cards when someone dies, etc. Finally, I just finished planning an Art Festival for our town through the Women's Club. I pick and choose activities and responsibilities that fit my lifestyle and cf well. One's that are flexible timing wise and if not then I make sure I'm a co-chair or that someone is available to "back me up."

Most of my time goes to raising my son. Each day I try to either take him to an enriching activity or have a fun activity at home. I have to get out of the house once a day though even if it's just to pick up milk.

The only thing I do every day to do with the house is make dinner or make plans to go out :) My dh lays out the menu on the weekend and we go shopping for any ingredients we don't have. He also takes stuff out of the freezer to thaw it throughout the week. Additionally, I start laundry and pick up around the house as I have time, energy and as needed.

Also, set in stone are my treatment times- morning and evening and afternoon if I have ANY increase in cough. Exercise has happened 3 times a week in the AM but is not currently happening. I need to realign my life to make that a priority.

I have a cleaning lady come every other week who does all the deep cleaning as well as one "special project" each time she comes. I can no longer do this type of cleaning because the chemicals make me have hemopytsis plus I can't do everything else AND THIS so we farm out this work. I'm very lucky that we can afford to have me home and have a cleaning lady. Although I do collect SSDI which greatly helps our bottomline.

I create a goal for myself daily and dwell on it until I get it finished,if im having a rly bad day I will call someone to assist me with it.
My biggest motivation to even get out of bed in the morning is my dogs, I love them to bits

I always wonder about this. I think about women who "do it all" and I am NOT one of those. We have a cleaning lady come every other week. We pay her $50 per visit. But I have a hard time maintaining between visits. Most of my problem is the mess the kids create. I don't ever feel like I'm "ahead" because I'm constantly just trying to keep their messes under control. Yesterday I had my living room cleaned up, swept and toys put away and within 3 hours it was a total mess again. I'm trying to do a little bit each day. Maybe one day I do a lot of laundry (clothes, sheets, rugs, etc). And another day I tackle the living room. Another day the kitchen. I think I'm doing a lot better than I did before but it is still hard. Especially since NOBODY but me notices that I've cleaned or done anything at all. A little validation once in a while would go a LONG way.

As for paying the bills - I do that too. I use automatic bill pay with my bank online. That is the easiest one of my chores since I don't really even have to think about it much! We are also paying down a lot of debt and I have a website that I put in all my cc info and it tells me how much to pay on each one every month. And it tracks it for me so I can see how far we have come and when we will be debt free.

Cooking - it is easiest when we set a menu and shopping list to go with it but that usually doesn't happen. We do have pizza just about every wednesday (we have a gift certificate for a pizza a week for a year). But I try to keep my usual ingredients in stock. I think grocery shopping is one of my hardest things to accomplish. I'm just not organized enough. I'm trying to get better in that area though. And it doesn't help that my picky son won't always eat what I've prepared. I made a crock pot stew the other day and he wouldn't touch it.

I guess to sum it up - I am responsible for all the chores (cooking, cleaning, bills, laundry) but we do have help and I'm not afraid to ask my DH to pitch in when needed. I don't enjoy the housework and would have weekly (or more often!) help if we could afford it. But until then it is up to me

This is a daily struggle for me. If there's anything my spouse and I argue about, it's house work. One of the things that gets me motivated is upbeat music--LOUD! Some of the things that I usually do are lay out the kids' clothes for school, deal with paperwork for school, pay the bills--if I start though, my husband will help by putting on the return address and applying stamps, loading the dishwasher, taking out the trash, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, laundry. Pretty much I do it all, just not as much as it needs to get done. I am always behind. I definitely prioritize. I like my living room and kitchen to always be clean, so in case anyone stops by without notice I am not embarrassed. I often do only the laundry that is needed for the next few days--a week's worth of clothes, a load of towels... My husband and I try to switch off cooking or if he's not there we eat stuff that can be heated up in the microwave. Chris, my 5-year-old, helps with taking out the trash and vacuuming. Mopping is the worst, because my 21-month-old is messy. I do have a steam mop that I really like and I also have a robot vacuum which was really nice, but it has stopped working. It keeps telling me to clean the brushes when they are already clean. Anyway, I guess my motto is do enough that gets you by until tomorrow. It's how I deal with work, too. I get done what I need for the next day and then I leave school so I can hang out with my kids!

First of all let me get this out in the open---"I LOVE housework". Yes, I know I am weird.

I keep a list of things to do each day in my I-Cal in my computer. I do one or two major task(s) each day. For example on Mondays I dust the living room and dining room, Tuesdays I clean and dust the bedrooms.... Fridays is a deeper clean in the bathroom and vaccum the entire house. My son is a big helper... except for when he is in the mood to make a mess. I do one load of laundry each day (at least one).

I get quite a cardio workout when I clean. Some days I find it is better than my vest for knocking stuff loose. I just have to watch my sugars throughout the day.

I don't pay blls-- hubby does. I don't do well with numbers and hubby seems to enjoying doing it so I let him. Happily! Money is tight and he enjoys the challenge.

Cooking/baking. All of us in our home have food allergies. We don't buy a lot of convenience food due to our food allergies. I make most of our food from scratch. When I am fatigued I sit on one of our bistro chairs (high counter level height chair) and I keep cooking. Once in a blue moon we order chinese take out.

I do order our groceries to be delivered to our home every 2 weeks. It keeps me out of the germy grocery store and we find it cheaper even with the delivery fee. No more impulse buys. The delivery person brings the groceries right into our house. I just have to put them away.

I set aside "appointments" with myself 2-3 times per day to sit and relax and do my treatments. Kiddo brings his school working into my room and I supervise him doing his school work.

Yes, I do get overwhelmed and tired. I am learning to make rest breaks through out the day (extra from my treatment breaks). These rest breaks give me time to blog and knit. I blog about my domestic duties at Real Life Home Economics. I blog about recipes, homeschooling and cleaning naturally-- no harsh chemicals. Come over and say "Hi"
