How do you manage working when a child with cf goes through long bouts of illness?

We recently went through a long period of time that our child with cf, who is 16, was sick quite alot...IV's, hospitalization, home care....I had to take a leave of absence with my job...she is better now, thankfully...how do other parents manage?

hi, we're going through the same thing right now, i just went on stress leave and just applied for my unemployment benefits today... it's hard to do it all, i know there are parents that work, unless there's some secret to it, i don't know how others do it.

that makes me feel better to know that there are others who struggle with this issue. I think the answer for us would be working from home. It was easier for us when she was younger because she did not have alot of issues, but in the last two years it has been quite difficult. I finally withdrew her from high school and enrolled her in a digital school that our local school has....well good luck to you and your family and thank you for responding<img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0">

I am stressing over this issue right now myself. My baby is sick now and has been for 2 months. He is on his second antibotics now. If this does not clear it up in a week then they are going to do a bronchscope(?) and see what we have to do from there. I go to school fulltime and work parttime. I really dont know what is going to happen if and when he is hospitalized. Its going to be very difficult. We have no family or friends to help out with our other 2 kids, just me and dad for now. He stays home with them while I work and go to school, but when something happens I dont think I will be able to work or consentrate at school, I just dont know. We dont have a back up plan. We are trying to come up with something now to prepare ourselves but its not looking good.
