How early can fingertip clubbing appear?

Perhaps a paranoid mama here...my daughter's fingertips may appear to have early clubbing (my observation only). I know this can be a result of various processes associated with CF. At what age did you observe this trait with yourself or another CF patient? It is usually something you observe in a child/individual older than 1.5 years???

i dont think doctors are sure as to why clubbing occurs in cystic fibrosis patients. some patients exhibit clubbing, yet have great lung function, and the opposite can be seen as well.

don't quote me 100% on this though.

i would agree, i don't think clubbing is so straight forward. I had clubbing from a very early age, around 2ish, even though my lung function had not begun to decline. I am 31 now, and my clubbing has remained pretty much the same, even as my pulmonary function has suffered. In my mind, it's just another thing doctors measure. And if I could change one thing, it would be this dependence/reliance/trust in measures and numbers only.
