How good is 104% in the blowing test?

So 1 years ago I went to the CF clinic, and I went from 101% to 92% (had been 2 years or so since last visit cause it was expensive but starting to go again). They said 92% is relatively good, but not that great. X rays were done and they said parts of my lung stopped working. So after that appointment (I was 16, just turned) I took that very seriously (I was scared of dying). Also at that visit they said it might be very hard-impossible to get it up to 101%. So I did P90X loosely, and I did my treatments almost every day (5/7 days-6/7 days). So 6 months (or 4 I forgot haha) I went back and did the lung tests, after I did my lung test, they said I had went up to 104%!!! They said that's very good! They said the usual CF patient looses 2% each year

But I was wondering how good is 104%? Is it common, in common, rare, what?

Its not uncommon for FEV1 scores to be over 100% but I think the amount of lung function you gained back is really remarkable. Just keep doing what you're doing and you may even be able to go higher than that.

104% is great, depends somewhat on your genotype/phenotype on how rare it is. 2% loss each year is a rather loose number. A lot of folks follow the "basement stairs" trend. Do OK and only drop 1% for a year, drop 5% the next year, stay steady for a year, drop another 4%. You get the picture. I was fairly steady in my numbers, staying above 75% until I became a parent. Then down to under 50% in just a few years. I had stopped putting myself first. A dangerous mindset, but hard to avoid.

Thankfully, you can sometimes go UP in the numbers too!

Being at that starting point that was not a huge gain or loss. Nothing extra remarkable. Its good that it came back. However there are CFers that go from high 90s to 30s and and gain it all back in 2 weeks. That is remarkable. When you're at a lower point for longer the gains become smaller and harder, at that point I would say that a 10% gain is remarkable, no doubt.

Congratulations! It took me some 2 years to go back from the 60s to the 80s after I attended university in Spain (when everybody was smoking around me).
What is P90X?
