How long do neb compressors last for you?

Hi all,
So, I was wondering how long your last or current neb compressor has been around. I feel like I got through at a ridiculous speed. I do ~2 hrs of nebs a day, and the compressor I have now is 4-5 mos old and already sluggish.

Anywhere from 9 months to 2 years. I think some people end up sending their Paris about every 6 months to a year.

I just had this problem and received my replacement from Pari. But the last one was a year and 5 months...before that 2 years.

Just be careful if you do get them to send you a new one it is before your old dies completely. I made that mistake and called Pari last Wednesday. They said it would be in the mail that day (which I assume it was) but I did not get it til yesterday, I think because of the weekend and what time it left Pari on Wed. But I was off nebs for 6 days.

Hi serendipity730,-

I have had about 5 compressors that I have burnt through,-( 1hr+ a day twice a day thing really adds up, with the odd 30 mins for extra time!!! ) the last Pari Neb Ultra 2 *ones I had broke after 1 month and then my insurance sent me a cheap one that last 2 months. I finally got sick of broken compressors and sluggish delivery times taking me forever., So I invested in a sweet machine called Mobilaire psi 50 by Invarcare, and its been a godsend! I only take now 45 mins, and can turn up he pressure anytime I need to.

Exactly like the hospital air/wall outlets they use for your nebs!!

It is pretty expensive, mine was $300, insurance doesn't cover- but its well worth the money, time and energy, ( I have had mine about 2 weeks now,) And its only a 11lbs, its also a very sturdy machine,- so a plus!! ++.

More pressure BTW means better aerosol delivery,/ the medicine gets better smashed up into droplets-, like Pulmozyme ,and goes deeper in to your lungs.

I have no idea why they prescribe these weak garbage compressors for CFers, first-, they are not made to be ran continuously for 30+ mins straight, and they more for people with asthma,.. not people that need neb after neb EVERY single day! HELLO!

Oh, did I mention I can run this baby for up to 10hrs at a time?! So you know this one is good !

Anyway, check it out, and stop with crap ones....Mobilaire psi- 50 by Invarcare!!!

Great post! I am really interested at the replies to this one as here in aus we are responsible for buying our own pumps. Pari is one of the only ones suggested for cf here but if others have suggestions maybe I could purchase online! I do 3-4 hours of nebs per day and although the pari's slow down pretty quick I can't be forever replacing it! Pari has no replacement program here either which is crazy! Also does anyone have a pari vios? Has. It lasted longer than other paris? That was one option I had to buy online! Thanks again for this great topic!

I have never had a Pari compressor, but my Aeromist compressor has lasted me almost 5 years at this point. My last two compressors have lasted me about 5 years. I actually used to use one of the big old honking loud ones for 20 years and I finally upgraded when I was in my early 20's.

Sounds like the Pari's done last long...

We started with a pari proneb ultra, and it was faulty from the start -- albuterol/atrovent took 25 minutes, tobi took about 45-50, but being new parents and new to nebs and cf we didn't know. DH's cousin gave us her daughter's old devilbiss pulmoaide and it worked great! Treatment times were much shorter and this was a 15 year old machine. So I bought one out of pocket for less than $100. The pari was no longer under warranty. I like the compactness of the pari for travel, so I purchased another one for travel -- again out of pocket for less than $50.

With the devilbiss, it lasted about 2 years and then it got louder and treatment times increased. They only deal with our DME, so I had to have them mail it in and it took 3 weeks for the warranty replacement. Fortunately we had the extra. When the Pari Proneb II became faulty, I emailed the company and they mailed out a new one, but it took a week to replace that one as well. I'd read on HERE how people just called the company and a new one was sent out immediately, so 9 months later when the Pari got really loud, I called and the NEXT morning one was on my door step.

I'm considering a mobilairre for the next purchase, but with the 5 year warranty on the pari, and the 3 year one on the devilbiss, I figure I'll save some money and keep returning them.
