i go no longer than 2 days without a BM and then i give her a dose of miralax, if that doesnt work we go to the dr.... good luck. hope she feels better soon!!

Zoe's GI doc doesn't want her to go longer than 36 hours without stooling. If she hasn't no later than 48 hours she starts getting doses of Miralax. She has had one bowel blockage once, so we are super careful to make sure she goes. I hope she has gone for you by now....if not...I think we would have already headed to the hospital.

It felt like the poop was compacted and wouldn't let it in. She started crying and I stoped. Finally I told her that we needed to take her to the hospital. 15 minutes later she was pooping. 5 days without poop!! My husband and I were so stress about it. Arguing about what to do. He wanted to keep waiting. I wanted to go to the hopital. CF put to much stress in our lives. I am so relieved now.

Hurray for poop! I will say that last summer with DS and his obstruction, it was only a very short period of time with not pooping alltogether before we realized he was in trouble.
But he threw up overnight on Friday. Stooled very early Saturday morning. Threw up again later in the afternoon and early evening. So we thought he had a stomach bug. But then I noticed his tummy was round and distended and he hadn't stooled. So Sunday I got him some milk of magnesia. But he threw that up. Complained his stomach hurt, so we headed to the clinic where they determined that evening he had an obstruction.
But in his case, his problems, were caused by adhesions and had been causing issues for quite some time, but he was still stooling, just vomited if he'd eaten a lot of food. But less than 36 hours of not stooling in his case and he had an obstruction.

I am so glad she finally went!! What a relief... she must feel so much better (you, too.) I would check in with her cf dr tomorrow for a plan of action now for what to do should this happen again. Since she's been on Miralax for a couple days hopefully she'll have a couple more good stools in the next day or so and be really cleaned out. Remind her that if she feels any urge to go to the bathroom at school tomorrow to go right away and not to try and hold it!! Speaking of which- do you think she doesn't feel comfortable pooping at school if she feels the need? I am not sure how old she is but that can be a common little kid thing and holding it is a common trigger for constipation.

This happened to my daughter a few weeks ago. She went 5 days. I did eventually give her the suppository because 3 days of miralax wasn't doing anything. Once she went, the mirslax made her lose some control which has never happened before. Since then, if she doesn't go 1 days, I start the Miralax. FYI with the suppository, you only need to get a very small amount in for it to work.
