How many of you have chronic chest discomfort?

If your doctor cannot find anything, perhaps try acupuncture. Someone who is experienced in pain management. I hope you feel better.

In the meantime, tap along the front and back of the wrists as well as massaging the fingers. I hope this helps with your pain. There are pain zones in these areas.

Hi Cepaciagal,

I am so sorry to hear you have "Pain" there is nothing worse than constant consistant pain. My story I had to share because it gets me down thinking of it and that Doc:
I had pain from 2003 April I got it while in hospital. The doc at that time had not got a clue what was wrong and I had every test done. I could not sit up in the bed, drive my car, move, hold a book bascially do anything!! It was in the middle of my chest more to my right side and under breast going right through to my lung!! I then started vomiting it was absoultely dreadful.
It went on for a year and half. (It was not confirmed that I had CF but, serve Asthma) I fired the doctor and moved on. You know what the doc BEFORE I fired him had me on Morphin for pain did help for a while(I was immume to it)
Morphin is a cough suppressant so my lungs where filling up with Mucous!!! Anyway, I was told I was lucky that I FIRED the Doc because I would be dead and I was drowning in my own Mucous.

The new doc got the pain team around and in May 04 I had a sens machine put in. They put the batteries in my stomach wires connected to where Ihad pain unfortunately 30 stitches and the Pain consultant did a good job nice small stitches. I had it switched on for 8half months and have it switched off over 2years no more chronic pain but, in damp cold weather my right side around the lung hurts but a hotwater bottle helps/heat.
I now want the machines out.
You can have the machine (Sens) on the outside of the skin so no operation needed (did not work for me).
It is know as the Tens, passes a small electric current across the nerve that carries the pain message to the brain.
Link. Or type in Tens machine.

The new doctor said it was "from all coughing musculoskeletal pain"!!!
I wish you the best and hope the pain goes soon. Keep warm and have hot baths that helps me now!! Especially the heat.

I pretty much have a chronic ache in my muscles in my back and neck and shoulders. I have tried the things you mentioned and I KNOW my pain is from coughing and the muscles being fatigued and sore. It is a different pain that what I get with infections or other more serious problems.

I will say that I have gone to physical therapy with neuromuscular massage therapy twice in recent years and each time that helped greatly. The first time I went they were able to help give me exercises to do to relax my muscles - they are very easy and mainly just involve positioning your body in different ways - no lifting or weights or anything like that. More recently when I went they were able to help relieve pain from and to correct a rib that I had popped out of place from coughing. THAT pain was horrendous and I knew something was wrong but didn't know what. I talked to my docs and they did a bunch of different things to me but couldn't identify the problem I went to therapy to see if it helped and within 5 minutes the massage therapist had found and fixed the problem.

If you decide to go the route of therapy and are having a hard time getting your insurance to cover the physical therapy and/or massage therapy message me, and I can tell you how we had to have the order written to get it covered through my insurance.

Take Care and hope you figure out the problem.

Thanks again for the info...I am writing this stuff down to take to my docs, she did temporarily up my meds until other tests can be done so that I can be comfortable. I know the coughing has something to do with it, I just hope that an infection isn't the culprit, I really don't want IV's just yet, only been less than a few months since I was on them. I have to be admitted for those, no home IV's as Medicare would rather pay for an inhospital treatment than to send me home with meds and supplies that are a fraction of what the stay would cost (my last stay for two weeks cost $80,000 dollars and Medicare didn't even blink about paying it- Gahhhh!!! They just don't cover home IV's, the case worker tried everything to send me home but they just wouldn't budge) Freddy, Risa, Mel, Lindsey and Sunflower as well as others, I will look into the therapy route if nothing shows but musculoskelatal stuff. I have used TENS in the past for migraine pain I had when I was in my 20's- they put the elecrodes behind my neck, it did help to an extent. It was a wierd sensation though! Hugs to all of you....I will keep you all updated to let you know what works...Hugs, Jenn

The only chronic discomfort i have is just the feeling like there's a weight in my chest...that's it. It's annoying as hell.
