Hi Joe,

Thanks for visiting the forum. I have been through the pre-transplant eval. My quality of life is really good right now though and my goal is to stay off of the list indefinately. My doctors agree with me I work really hard at staying with treatments and exercising. I also play the flute. I go to the Cleveland Clinic a few times a year. I often wonder how much better I would be at playing the flute with "new and improved" lungs. I would love to be able to play Flight of the Bumble Bee Great to hear you are out enjoying life!

well trying to stay off the list is a good goal.... i did it for a few years but that was my decision. the doctor wanted to cut me up a.s.a.p..... ha. Well i can tell you that you could play Flight of the Bumble Bee after you have it. What is your fev1 right now and do you need any oxygen at all?

I haven't had a transplant, but I do have a question. Those who have had - what was your FEV1 before the transplant?
I'm at about 32% and I find my doctor has been kind of negative (I'm not even sure that's the word I want to use - maybe dismal??) about my health.
Just curious

Well it is hard to put a number on when you need a transplant b/c everyone's body is different. usually when you go below 30% that is when they start talking about it. Now for me i was at 17%...... I was that low for about 3 yrs and had been below 30% for probably 6-8 yrs. Now i didnt need oxygen during the day jsut at night and when i worked out. also my weight was stable and close to the normal range. So really it depends on how your body adapts to your lungs. How is he being negative?
