How many times a day do you do CPT for your child?

Positive culture of PA is definitely a sign of cf lung involvement. So much so that it can be used as a diagnostic tool for cf. As others have said, healthy, non-cf lungs do not culture PA.</end quote></div>
I agree. Dx is uncertain for my son, and sputum cultures have been recommended for him twice a year since a positive culture for cf-specific bugs (PA in particular) would be considered diagnostic for him combined with his other 'borderline' factors.

We vest twice a day for 30 minutes every day--even if he is clear as a bell. When he is sick, we will sometimes do one extra vest treatment and then do at least 1 or two CPT sessions too.
I just wanted to add that when Luke was an infant, we did 4 times a day every day. I think when they are small, they have not developed a good, strong cough and so they cannot clear on their own. Plus they are not up running around and doing some of the other activities that cause them to breath deep and get a good clearing cough. So I would say that 4 times a day is not overkill for an infant, anyway. And they are usually a little more cooperative at that age too! If you have the ability, I would say 4 times per day is a good idea.
