How often do you boil nebs?

Hi Kelli,

I use about the same number of nebs as you do, and I boil them after every use (although I have enough nebs that I only do that 1x per day).

My mom actually came up with a great system. We bought this:

<a target=_blank class=ftalternatingbarlinklarge href="http://www.stockpotandsteamer.com/Progressive-International-GMRC-500-PRI1021.html
">http://www.stockpotandsteamer....GMRC-500-PRI1021.html
</a>
I wash the nebs in soap and water and then put them in the basket in the pot, fill it with water, put on the lid and stick it in the microwave for 10 minutes. When it's done I can lift the basket out, shake it, and stick it back in the microwave for 1 minute intervals to expedite the drying process. Then I can just leave it in the basket and next time I do nebs, they're perfectly dry.

I hope this helps. We came up with this after my senior year in college, when I kept putting nebs to boil on the stove and falling asleep. My roommates and I awoke to smoke alarms going off and toxic fumes throughout the apartment... twice. It certainly beats that!!

have you tried using the steam sterilizer bags for the microwave instead of boiling? that might cut down on wear and tear, I used them for my pump parts ( when breastfeeding) and they worked well. Also my clinic gets the pari jet nebs for Tobi for free from the drug company and gives them out

Have you asked your CF center if they have any nebs? I'be never had to pay for a neb. I just ask them for a few at the CF center if they put me on Tobi (which is rare maybe once or twice a year). This last time I got the Pari neb with the dishwasher basket and whatnot.

When I asked my nurse (via voicemail) she told me (via voicemail), that she can send me one maybe two nebs. Because IT COSTS THE CLINIC MONEY. I wanted to call her back and scream, 'Do you know how much money I've paid your clinic?' Probably enough money to keep their electric on for a couple of months. lol

I'll just keep boiling.
Thanks for all of your opinions!!
