My first hospitalization was when I was 12. The next one was when I was 26, but that was only for two days and because I wasn't being seen by a CF doctor at the time and my PCP didn't know what to do <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif" border="0"> From about age 20-24, I got bronchitis four times a year, but that stopped happening once I graduated college. Oral antibiotics always took care of it. So, I've been on a really good healthy streak for about 10 years. I think I got pneumonia a couple times, but it wasn't bad at all, I missed a few days of work and oral antibiotics took care of it.
And, fast forward to right now. I've had bronchitis for almost two weeks and been on three different oral antibiotics - my CF doctor said that, if I'm not better by tomorrow (after taking cipro over the weekend), I'm getting a PICC line placed and doing home IVs. So that will be my first 10-day course of IVs in 22 years. I do feel better today, so my fingers are crossed that I won't need them.
