How old is too old?

I completely understand the "clock ticking" feeling. I have been feeling the clock since I started understanding the implications that CF would have on the possibility of me having children. I am 21 now and married for almost a year, and I think that other than the fact that I love my husband very much, the fact that I have CF and want to have children soon had a bit to do with me wanting to get married so young. I feel like I want to do it before I don't have the chance to. I am very lucky, as I still only have mild lung disease with little to no digestive impairment. Hopefully, I will be healthy for many years to come, but I hope to start trying to get pregnant here in the next year or two.

Many thanks to all who responded! I know that everyone is different...but I guess I was looking for some encouragement. Apparently, I came to the right place!!

Thanks again!

I have to agree with those who commented. It really is a personal decision based on so many different factors.

* FEV1
* weight management
* diabetes
* cultures
* stability
* support system (internal & external)

Those are just some that come to mind instantly. Also I wanted to raise my child not just have it...I'm not implying you or anyone else with that statment. If I can't be a effective parent to my child than it's not fair to the child or myself.

Looking back at the past year, I doubt HIGHLY that I'll even be trying to 30. My FEV1 has dropped from 65% to a mere 50%, according to my latest visit this past Monday. I'm quite depressed about everything. I have run out of time...

There are many CFers on this site that have had children into their 30s and did just fine. It all depends...

Jenny, don't feel that you're out of time. Maybe you should need a break from all the stress of trying. I keep reading about so many people whose FEV1s go up from exercise or treating allergies. Just focus on your health for a while and do something you enjoy. I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
