How sweet it is...

James Taylor is one of my favorite artists to sign to my kids, so I thought this title was appropriate! So as many of you know, Weston learned how to swallow enzymes a couple of weeks ago. What a HUGE accomplishment!!! I am still on cloud nine about it and I figured that I would start a discussion about all the things we can be grateful for when our kids start swallowing enzymes without applesauce! Here is goes:

1) I realized today that I am no longer always in a shortage for spoons in my house!

2) I think I have atleast a 1/2 hour back in my days schedule if you consider taking the applesauce out, getting the spoon, opening them up, etc. etc. X each meal, snack, drink. Ugh!

3) The other day I found a enzyme capsule while cleaning the fridge. WTH! How did that get in there?! Well now I don't have to worry about those damn capsules all over the place!!!

4) A smaller purse?! Tami, I haven't gone and bought a new one to celebrate yet. I'm not sure I will yet because I still bring a change of clothes since Weston still occasionally has accidents.

5) No more "Oh crap, I forgot the applesauce!" while driving through a drive-thru or at a party!

6) The other day Weston went to a b-day party and I had to drop him off for an hour so that I could get Ella to another party. The mom is a friend but has never administered enzymes before. It is much easier to ask someone to just give the pills than to have to explain the applesauce, break open, etc. She didn't look so overwhelmed and freaked out when I asked. LOL!!

7) No more reminders at school. I was always getting notes home "the applesauce got moldy in the fridge again can you bring in more". One less thing to worry about! Yippee!!

8) No more buying applesauce (well okay the kids still actually like it, but I don't feel the need to stock up when it is on sale anymore!)

I'm sure I'll think of more. What has swallowing enzymes done for your life? LOL!!! Go Weston!!!

I LOVE this topic! <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif" border="0">

I'm glad to see your #1! I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels that way!!! I honestly don't know WHY it was such a pain to get out the applesauce and the spoon and the bowl...but it was! I'm glad that's over!

Here are my additions:

1. For me, no more opening 50+ capsules into little ketchup cups on Sunday night to send to school for the week! It took at least 20 minutes to organize it, and I can't tell you how many times I left the whole container of cups on the kitchen counter, anyway. Plus, my finger tips crack in the cold winter weather (I.E. May in Wisconsin), and opening hte little buggers was a real pain!!!

2. No more of those darn little ketchup cups ALL OVER my kitchen!!! I may use one now and then to send 'zymes to a party or something, but the rest are G.O.N.E.

3. More room in the pantry. Seriously, there was a basket where we kept the applesauce cups that we took on the go with us. It's now filled with Craisins, Almonds, Pita Chips and other stuff that I like!!

4. Extra praise for Emily. She LOVES to show off her new skill and will demonstrate for anyone who is around for a meal. She always gets a big thumbs up! Makes me smile.

5. No more stray beads on my kitchen floor. I could hear them bouncing around under my broom. Not any more!

6. Emily is developing addition skills. We joked when she was teeny tiny that she would count to 10 before any other kid her age because we always counted her albuterol and Flovent "puffs" out loud. Now, she is finding all the combinations to make 7 (the number of 'zymes she takes at a meal. She will try to swallow 3 at a time, then 4 at a time, for example. The other night she said, How come 3 + 4 is 7 AND 5 + 2 is still 7? Smarty pants!

Jenn, just get the purse! Keep a change of clothes in the car. A purse with no spoon in it is a happy purse!!!

It is so fabulous when they start to just swallow the pills!!!

Now I just have a little key chain that holds pills, so I never am without them. Its SOOOO much easier.

The best part is when she goes on orapred (that tastes nasty in liquid form) Alyssa can get the pills because she can swallow them.

I also don't find the little beads all over the floor anymore. Or on the countertops when I clean up at night.

Or if you mixed the applesauce and pills and left it in the sick to clean the next morning and it gets all crusty with the little beads in it -- yuck!!!

YEA!!! ...i know it seems like such a small thing, but in our world it is HUGE!!!.... i especially like no more APPLESAUCE SNEEZES!!..ugh...seemed like the spoonful of applesauce with enzymes laid in her mouth just long enough for her nose to decide she needed to sneeze and blow it all out on her mommy!! (that happened way to many times to miss!!)
