HTS prior to Pulmozyme

Thanks everyone. DD's CF nurse was confused about the 15mL vials and is going to contact the pharmacy to see why 15mL vials were sent instead of 4mL. I assumed give her 5-6mL for ten mins and discard the rest. Guess it does make the most sense to do Pulmozyme at night...just trying to figure out how to space the two!

One thing that I strongly suggest, if you have time before the morning neb. rx
is to get well hydrated. For me to get hydrated it takes 4-6 glasses, 14oz. H2O
and several cups of coffee. This takes about a hour for me, then I start with 3%
HTS 6-7cc, followed with Xopenex 1.25mg followed by Acetylcysteine 20% 1-1.5 cc
then eitherTobi or Cayston. Being retired affords me time to sepend 2hr for my
morning neb. rx. I spend about 4-5 hr. a day doing neb. depending on which neb.
antibiotic I am on.
I understand the pulmonary Dr. say do the xopenex or what ever broc. dial.
1st but I get better results doing the HTS 3% 1st, after being well hydrated. I
have used 7% and 3% HTS, I really can not tell the difference, so I have chosen
to use the one with the lowest salt content.
I have tried pulmozyme in the past, for me the HTS works well. I have chosen
not to do pulmozyme.

Good luck, HTS and exercise I feel like are two things that have really
helped me a lot.
We are a bit of rebels when it comes to declining some treatments from the centers, however do you mind sharing your reasoning for not taking pulmozyme? Would like to weigh this out.

My the way, what an amazing cf story you have. What tributes your success? I am assuming ocean side living? we would love to hear how our daughter can also be blogging at retirement.
I tried pulmozyme then I tried HTS and for me I got better result (cough up more thick mucus) from the HTS. After I did the HTS I wated a while then did the pulmozyme, with very little if any productive cough. This was back about 10 yrs. ago.

Being well hydrated is very, very important. I drink plenty of fluids prior to AM rx, until my nose starts to run a little.
If I am not well hydrated very poor results from neb rx. I take my time cleaning out my lungs, getting the mucusout, thisis very very important, never pass up a opportunity to cough up mucus.
Neb rx and exercise 3 times a wk. is my personal key to where I am.

I tell folks God is not ready for me and the Devil does not know what to do with me.

Do Not let me influence anyone into changing their medication. This is what works for me just like doing the HTS before I do broncodilator.

Good luck to all and Have a Merry Christmas!!
