humidity becoming a problem where we live, any suggestions, advice.....

Hey there. My husband has recently been diagnosed with CF and we are still new to all of this. The humidity where we live is crazy and it seems to be making his symptoms worse and very hard to breathe. We are looking into moving where the air is better. Any suggestions? Do any of you have the same problem? We are in south carolina and all of my family is here, but I want him to be comfortable. Thank you

I loved to Colorado a few years ago from the midwest and my breathing got better. We have less humidity here. I have troubles going home back to the midwest... I come back to Colorado with some sort of mild upper respiratory gunk and it takes me weeks to get back to normal. When I go back home I can feel my breathing becoming more labored and gunky.

I don't go back home very much anymore... I stay right here in the drier climate and thinner air as much as possible.

I have been breathing a little bit better this week though because I just started Advair. I usually feel extremely tight on humid days but this whole week I have breathed pretty good. Is your husband on Advair or something like it? I know it is more for the asthma type symptoms but it really seems to be helping me.

Other than that I don't know because I have been struggling with it too but cannot leave because all of my family is here. Hope you can find something to help him and when you do please let me know because I might like to try it as well. <img src="i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif" border="0"> Ginger

I live in FL so I definately deal with the humidity. It definately makes it harder to breathe but I also wonder if the moisture might help a little to liquify our mucous. What makes it hard to cough up is that it is so dry and sticky so it would SEEM like the moisture would help cough it up easier. At the same time though, it's less 02 when there is H02 in the air. I live near the beach now and try to go there more often since studies have shown how CF surfers inhaling the salt air from the ocean have helped to cough the junk up. That's where the idea for HyperTonic Saline came into play. So really I think there are positives and negatives anywhere you live. Well, except a polluted city is just plain bad.
