Humming!

I know most of us have mentioned that we hum when we go to sleep. Mine has gotten worse over the past year. It's gone from being a cute little thing I do, to making my friends not want to sleep next to me and my guy wondering if I'm ok. I've always thought it was me sort of shaking off my vocal cords if they get covered w/ mucus. It seems to be worse when my cough is more productive.

Has anyone seen a sleep specialist or any other kind about this? What did you find out?

In the last month I have begun doing this. I wake myself up from it. I dont ever remember doing it in the past & thought it was odd, but didnt really think much of it. How many others do it?

I do it all the time as well. I either wake myself up or my boyfriend does. I dont know what it is. But it seems to happen when I'm super tired. Becky in mIch

I never hummed, 'moaned and groaned' is what my family called it.
Definitely a pain.
They said it got worse when I was sick. [worse = louder]
I assumed that I did it when I was in the hospital as well, the nurses never said anything though. So I don't know, I never did see a sleep therapist or anything but after TX I haven't had a problem with it. ::shrugs::

I definately do this. Sometimes I have to go into another room so as to not wake up my wife!
I do this as an actual action while dreaming I'm talking!
I too, 'moan' louder when I'm not feeling well.
Do you clear your throat alot, during the day? (drainage?)

That is sooo wild that you all are talking about this cuz when I am REALLY REALLY Tired, worn out and not feeling that good sometimes I moan in my sleep. My husband thinks it is so funny and I can even hear myself doing it but can not stop unless he wakes me up and tells me to stop.

How wild this happens to other CF people. I did not think it had anything to do with CF but maybe it does!

I do that usually when I am sick. Its like a hooting noise I usually wake myself up or my mom will hear me and come check on me. It's kind of funny!

Glyconutrients .....hmmmm i recieved a newsletter from my clinic here (nebraska) that was warning CF patients about them. They are not working as well as these people that are trying to sell them to us say they are....not to mention lots of $$$$$$$$$$$$ invested in some sort of a "cure" formula that usually does not do anything.........it annoys me when people try to come on here and sell stuff to us.....i had to chime in when i saw that word Glyconutrients......

I make a noise like I'm humming the word "huh". Its hard to explain. I have woke myself up from it. If people (fiancee' or parent) are around, and I wake up and they tell me they were sitting there saying "what, what" (until they realized I was sleeping) because they thought I was trying to get there attention for something. I also do this if I am very tired or sick.

I also do this! It's usually just after I fall asleep, and it's loud enough to wake me up. I tend to sound like one of those old war sirens that you crank by hand

When I wake myself up humming, I'm almost always sleeping on my back or sitting on the couch with my head back. Do any of you also have nasal polups (sp?)?
